Welcome An Introduction to This Blog
Cross words will be an exploration of what the Bible says, what it means, and what it can mean to us. My life is built on two postulates: Jesus is God’s only Son and the Bible is God’s only book. What does life look like when you look at it through these two lenses? Where did we come from? What went wrong? (a quick look at the news or out your window or into your heart will tell you that something went wrong) What can we do about it? Where are we going to end up? Answering these four questions gives us the world view we use every time we evaluate an event or a feeling or an idea. My answers come from the two sources I mentioned above: the Bible, taken literally whenever possible and seriously at all times, and my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I feel secure enough with this foundation to take an honest, friendly look at anything or anyone. I am studying Paul’s letter to the Romans right now with some friends who, I hope, will use this site to keep in touch with each other. Friends from Jordan Christian Fellowship in Sophia, WV. Friends who would love to include you in our discussion. Please read on, Craig

Weekly Bible Lessons
Paul is the author of the letter to the Romans. A member of the Jewish elite, he feared and hated Christians, until he became one after a personal encounter with the risen Christ. His answers to the 4 worldview questions I mentioned above came from 3 days and nights he spent in the presence of Jesus (2 Cor.12:1-7), and 3 years he spent in the Arabian desert studying the Bible (Gal.1:11-18). A powerfully effective missionary, a Jew who crossed cultural, ethnic, and religious lines to bring his faith to the gentile world, he was very controversial. He needed the Roman church to launch his ministry to the farthest western reaches of the empire. He first needed to settle the controversies swirling around him by fully explaining what he believed, why he believed it, and what difference it made in a person’s life, His letter to the Romans is his powerful, life changing answer to these questions.
